The great South Saskatchewan river winds it way through the city of Medicine Hat. During the warmer months, the river provides a wonderful place to escape the burning heat of the hot summer sun. But in the dead of winter, the frozen river lays still, at least on the surface.
The ice is slowly buckling up at the gentle river bend that gives the appearance of rocks over a frozen shore. With temperatures starting to dip during the setting sun, long shadows are cast against the icy surface.
A lone tree reaches for the warm of the setting sun |
Farther down stream, a log jam is frozen in time, waiting patiently for the spring sun to break the clutches of winter.
Until then... spring will just have to wait....
